Description
A mixture of the sulphates of polypeptides produced by certain strains of Bacillus polymixa. Colistin acts primarily by binding to membrane phospolipids and disrupting the bacterial cytoplasmic membrane. The antibioticum is active against gram-negative bacteria, especially Pseudomonas species.
