The E.Z.N.A.\u00ae High Performance (HP) Plant & Fungal DNA Kit is designed for efficient
\nrecovery of genomic DNA from fresh, frozen, and dried plant or fungal tissue samples
\nrich in polysaccharides or having lower DNA content. Up to 100 mg wet tissue (or 50 mg
\ndry tissue) can be processed in less than 1 hour. The system combines the reversible
\nnucleic acid-binding properties of the HiBind\u00ae matrix with the speed and versatility of
\nspin column technology to eliminate polysaccharides, phenolic compounds, and enzyme
\ninhibitors from plant or fungal tissue lysates. Purified DNA is suitable for PCR, restriction
\ndigestion, and hybridization techniques.<\/p>\n

If using the E.Z.N.A.\u00ae HP Plant & Fungal DNA Kit for the first time, please read this booklet
\nto become familiar with the procedures. This procedure relies on the well established
\nproperties of the cationic detergent, cetyltrimethyl ammonium bromide (CTAB), in
\nconjunction with the selective DNA binding of Omega Bio-tek\u2019s HiBind\u00ae matrix, to purify
\nhigh-quality DNA. Samples are homogenized and lysed in a high salt buffer containing
\nCTAB and extracted with chloroform to remove polysaccharides and other components
\nthat interfere with many routine DNA isolations and downstream applications. Binding
\nconditions are adjusted and DNA is further purified using HiBind \u00ae DNA Mini Columns.
\nIn this way, salts, proteins, and other contaminants are removed to yield high-quality
\ngenomic DNA suitable for downstream applications such as endonuclease digestion,
